تم نشره في 2021/03/19
The Bravia XR Master Series A90J OLED TV has a ridiculously long title, but that's to be forgiven because this may be the best OLED TV ever made. Sony has worked its own magic to coax more brightness out of its OLED TVs, promising all the vivid brightness and color you might expect from an LED/LCD TV, but with the perfect blacks of OLED. In this video we unbox the Sony A90J, take a look at the new Google TV setup process and interface, make some basic TV settings, and get first impressions on what might be this year's best TV.

  • Hey friends! So ... This TV? It makes me feel things. Let me know if you are excited to see the review, because I'm excited for you to see it. Oh, and that comparison? It's coming too!

    • How much space is below the lower edge when the legs are in sound bar mode. In other words how tall a sound bar can I get. Looking at a Sonos Arc.

    • @Abdulkader Khojema Complete absence of grayscale. Cartoon and unnatural colors, in addition. Nothing to do with what is shown in the cinema and life.

    • @Jared Nomak Such an interesting take.🤔 Well articulated for sure!💯

    • Full of shit TV. Or rather, it's a TV set, for stupid downs.

    • I really don't get the practicle benefits of the new Cognitive XR processing chip Sony is using in it's new 2021 TV lineup.🤔 Dosen't the next gen A.I processing it's implementing on a scene to scene basis by analysing and changing colour, contrast and details for improvements in immersion go against how movies and TV shows are ideally meant to be watched? aka, the Creator's mode that preserves the creator's intent becoming a highlight in the past two years in the TV market. What's even more puzzling is that Sony markets 'Netflix Calibrated Mode' and 'Film maker mode' right next to this new feature. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the processing turn off when these modes are enabled? It's pretty obvious but still I could be wrong. It's just not Sony either, others like Samsung and LG are bringing this sort of processing tech in some way or the other with newer, powerful and improved chips every year. With all the picture settings we got to manually fiddle around with out of the box to get started with accurate viewing experience this new marketing gimmick just seems to turn everything around, dosen't it?🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Excellent review bought one in Ireland this week. €2700 €3000 new.

  • Yes! I’ve been waiting on a brighter OLED for like 4 years!

  • sony x900h is best for PS5

  • Hey Caleb you know what's disappointing about luxury tv this day's? THE ADS.... You're dropping a big amount of money and there's still ads on it, I mean common , Sony does this, LG , hell even Samsung... WTF......

  • That tv is $4,000.00 for the 65", How about the X95J?

  • I like that tv stand, but it is not worth $2,600.00

  • interesting TV, i want a vs. against the Panasonic JZW2004

  • Looking forward to your review of the x90j

  • Hoping to get some insight here. I can get the a90j and the a80j 65 inch for 2700 and 2000 respectively. My question is, does the a90j give better shadow detail because of the new chip or is it because of the new panel for greater brightness?

  • Maybe I missed something but where are the rabbit ears antenna and also would I have to hit it on the side to correct the horizontal hold. I'll assume it gets UHF as well as VHF?

  • how much space is below the tv's lower edge when it is in sound bar position. In other words, what is the tallest sound bar I can put in front of the tv. I'm looking at a SONOs arc that is 3.5 inches tall.

  • I'm primarily looking for a gaming TV, so I'm not in the OLED market, due to burn in. But this was a great initial review, and looking forward to the PS5 review!

    • @Chris Fagan I have played through GTA 5 played some GTA online I play war zone all the time with mates also god of war all with static HUD’s on the TV as long as you vary content like watch some movies Netflix etc in between you shouldn’t have a problem I have just ordered the A90J OLED for my upgrade this year my living room LG will now retire to the bedroom hope this helps

    • @C H that is great news, thx for letting me know. what games have you been playing on your oled? I am most concerned about GTA map, and HUDs, because when I had a projection TV, I could see issues, even though I tried to shift screen location, etc.

    • I have gamed on my LG oled for 5 years now from PS4 now to PS5 play about 5 hours a day maybe more on weekends I don’t have any burn in

  • why spend so much money on OLED that will become useless with burn-ins

  • Sony can't seem to design legs on a stand... horrible.

  • Your thoughts on the Sony XBR-75X900H and can you recommend one. I watch a lot of sports if that helps!

  • Blue and pink colour promote Halloween that's means God of the spirit is dead evil again.

  • LG Oled CX is super

  • I really don't get the practicle benefits of the new Cognitive XR processing chip Sony is using in it's new 2021 TV lineup.🤔 Dosen't the next gen A.I processing it's implementing on a scene to scene basis by analysing and changing colour, contrast and details for improvements in immersion go against how movies and TV shows are ideally meant to be watched? aka, the Creator's mode that preserves the creator's intent becoming a highlight in the past two years in the TV market. • Why you shut off all motion? Cost? How large? Measurements?

  • Nice one

  • Sony is definitely the next brand I buy. Their TVs seem excellent yet very underrated. Some of the features such as center speaker input and a mic kill switch are nice touches... I used to buy exclusively Samsung, but I've not been impressed by their image quality, LGs build quality and software is poor from my experience, so a Sony OLED will be my first OLED once prices of smaller displays come down in the next couple of years

  • When does the Sony A80J start selling?

  • Whoever did the blur job on your email address needs some remedial censorship classes.

  • Does a Sonos arc fit between the legs?

  • When will you compare it against the new sony z9j?xr.

  • I don't want this, I NEED THIS!!!!!!!

  • LG G1 VS Sony A90J...Round 1 FIGHT!!!!!!!!!

  • Switched to lg cx, I’ve been long time Sony tv lover. Sony display is always great, but android software is horrible. It has been always buggy and laggy. Done with that. Had bad experience with two Sony android tvs over last 8 years. I felt lg web os is very clean, snappy. It just works. Android is the only reason I’m staying away from sony.

  • It’s too thin. I wish they’d stop that shit.

  • Sun light can cause burn-in on OLEDs

  • Typ oglądał tv info 11h/24 , after 10 month Sony is death !

  • Most people buy a tv to watch tv, ie Sky, Virgin or Infinity, but you never mentioned or demonstrated any of this.

  • Isn't changing the motion settings multiple times a hassle? Do I need to do that in every app?

  • Faux Battle Royale. So they went with the cheap boxes this year huh. I do like Sony but they didn't fully execute the possibilities this year. I might get the LG unless I have a Sony minded environment. Games are gonna be vital so that may sway the decision.

  • Is the Sony panel made by LG for this TV ?

  • Looks awesome, can’t wait to get one next year

  • not gonna lie. these influencers be influencing. I had this TV in my Best Buy Cart today when I was like, wth am I doing ? I don’t even like Sony and I already have a CX I’m perfectly happy with. I’d rather have an 75 inch 950j for $1,000 less. I bought some dogecoins instead....

  • Dont fall for it. Sony is overpriced and underperforms compared to LG. They never update their software and when they do, its to add commercial advertising. You paid a lot of money and now suddenly get intrusive ads. LG is not like that from my experience.

    • true. Until this year. LG’s new UI is terrible and is pushing ads., the y have the nerve to call it a “hero” banner.

  • These flat panels tv are so cumbersome to install as they are so large. It is amazing that no one has thought of making them in small panels that you can put together to make a large panel

    • @Michelle Alexandria I have a few cathode ray tube TVs at my place, almost new and a little portable one that is years old. Together they cost me thousands. My new 65 inch 4k LG tv cost me around $1300 and a 50 inch 4k in the bedroom cost me $500. I also have two hd TVs sitting around. I guess I am a hoarder.

    • that’s what Micro LED is and that tech is 8 yrs away from being affordable. Back in the day my first big tv was a Mitsibushi 720p 50 inch tubbe tv that cost me $7,000 and weighed over 200 lbs and was the width of a 60 inch TV Stand. Now I think 65 inches is “small.”

  • Definitely a brighter OLED but at a price point of the LG C1 so we'll likely have to wait a year.

  • Anyone have information on PIP, PBP, options. Thanks

  • This is worst looking Sony oled in there Master series !!

  • For the price of the 55" A90J you can purchase a 55" G1 + a PS5 or XSX. What a tricky choice 😩

  • I just bought the 65” A8H. I don’t game on it so it’s perfect for me. Bought it on sale for less than 2k US dollars. I’m poor and to my wife’s standard she thinks I overspent. Now this unit is amazing but completely out of my reach. It’s like that Ferrari you see passing you on the highway. Unobtainable but could only dream of what it is like to own it.

  • I've always been a fan of the Sony ecosystem and happy with their tech, Ive enjoyed the upgrade from lcd to oled in the xperia phones (xz2 premium to 1ii) and am keen to buy a oled TV from Sony, my current 4k uses Opera apps and is shitty and laggy these days. Thanks for the demo

  • Demo video is always good..who watching tv in 2021...people enjoy to watch AR-one..only mobile and pc monitor...sony please stop tv production...people are waiting to buy oled desktop monitor...

  • 4000 + Ads no thanks

  • Sony the best in oled technoogy

  • motion fkiw/cinemotion - is the thing people are buying sonys. Only bafoon will turn it off.

  • Пользуюсь SONY уже 6 лет и никаких проблем.

  • Why the hell do these TVs all still have the soap opera settings set to on out of the box ? And why the hell do they even have those settings ??? Everyone turns them off anyway.

  • Does anyone know why my tv goes to sleep after awhile? I set it to never sleep and screen saver after 30mins. Been giving me screen saver for awhile now until yesterday. It sleeps now instead of giving me the screen saver and i go and i start the screen saver manually and it doesnt happen. I got 950g sony

    • @Tear Key hey that's great. Good to hear.

    • @Curtis Ramoutar they fixed it.

    • It's tired. Coffee may help. Glad I can help.

  • Is it possible to use this TV as a dumb TV or do you have to login to google? I run all my TVs air-gapped with an external Roku, with pi-hole handling my DNS, for all of those very privacy reasons Google makes you check all the boxes for. If I can't run the TV as simply a TV Sony doesn't get my money. Google should be paying ME to take this TV.

  • Just need to know when i can purchase my g1 lol

  • $4000 is just too much bruh :( If only it was around $3000

  • Google TV and the overall interface is the reason I would probably go with this over LG for next oled.. LG interface is so boring. And I love my Shield TV and are used to Google TV.. Might get this next year when that year's models pushes the price of this down.

  • The true battle is going to be between the A90J and the Panasonic JZ2000 for best conventional OLED TV. LG G1 simply doesn't compare with only 900 nits peak brightness.....

  • Great review, hope there will be a review Panasonic JZ2000 soon

  • All I want to know is if it will run 4K at 120 fps to match the ps5.

  • It was time for sony. After LG introduced the OLED, every year is the same thing: LG innovating and out ahead of the rest of the competitors.

  • I expect the A90j to "win" but enough peopel will be scared off by it's price, and "settle" for the G1 as it's "good enough" for like what almost half? Bugatti's are faster, but they sell way more Audi's

    • @Cory Newton I'm hearing 850-900 in cinema with peak brightness set high. So yeah...not miles away from high 750's to 800, especially if the color volume is there. Ok the sony has better sound....but you can afford a sound system for the price difference, lol

    • Yeah, but what's the point of having a Bugatti if your only driving 55 miles an hour. The Sony may hit 1300 nits in vivid mode, but no one watches tv on vivid. If it is slightly brighter than the G1 and almost double the price, it is not worth the cost.

  • If I'm going to get a new TV it needs to be bigger. 55 inches? Nope.

  • a90j for picture enthusiast because of the heatsink. lg for gamers because of the 4 2.1 ports . had an lg c9 untill yesterday. picked this up yesterday and the difference in unreal

    • Mine is coming in the next week I’m going from a B6 to this take it I’m going to be blown away ?

  • Wow, Nice!

  • 3k for a 55? lol.. I'd rather buy two 55 CX

  • Will 2020 Sony tv switch to google tv ?

  • We need more details, how is this in gaming. I am already sold on it being a brighter tv and being much sturdier than the LG models. I hate how fragile the CX and GX series were.

  • I have Sony A8F and the only thing missing is brightness

  • Please review the 83" version when available.

  • LG c1 2021 TV any one

  • Im looking at buying this tv and creating a surround set up, whats the best solution? I have space for soundbar or separate speakers.

  • @Digital Trends did y'all do a separate review of those Q Series KEF speakers somewhere? Would love to get your thoughts on those too.

  • Sony all the way! Is this going to have an 83" or just 77"

    • 55/65/83. No 77 (A80J has 77 but no 83).

  • What size?

  • Seems like a *very* pro google review 🤔

  • Wow, Sony with the new Google Tv just might win me over but I need that price to be under $800 by black Friday or Christmas.

  • The price of the Sony A90J makes the LG CX look like an absolute steal AND a bargain.

  • Sony is best

  • I could be wrong but when I set mine up I think the legs are on backwards. Mine sits flush to the table like the a1e and a9g

    • It's 2 different ways to set the legs up. Either flush to the stand or elevated to have it sitting up

  • when is this tv releaseing worldwide

  • I think refresh rate is critical.

  • What is the surround sound called looks nice

  • sony has a bright picture quality and sony has a new processor so this year sony new models are the best the lg is also good but sony is best in tvs and oleds

    • LG this year is a big downgrade from 2020 models. 1000 nits less brighter, charging an extra $100 for the stand.

  • I’m not cheap my tv is fine I can’t tell the difference so why pay up the azz $$$$

  • Will last seasons Sony tvs like the A8H be updated to GoogleTV

  • It's my first time getting an OLED. I'm coming from a Samsung Q8FN which has been amazing. I'm seriously looking at this one for Movies, Anime and PS5 gaming. This TV is a strong contender but before I buy I'm waiting on comparisons between TVs that are competing with it.

  • The thing I hate about this Sony OLED is the HDMI. I have a PS5, Series X, and a eARC atmos soundbar. I don’t understand why Sony didn’t make one of the 2.0 ports eARC capable. My Sony 950G is a 2.0 tv yet has eARC so I know it’s possible. I’m being forced to get a LG C1 or G1 because I don’t really want to keep getting up when I want to swap between my PS5 and Series X.

  • Sr, what is the name the speakers you have?, i love that color and design and I order that Sony in amazon haha almost 3200 dlls with taxes for the 55 inch.

    • Those are KEF Q series. There are three sizes of the towers; those look like they're probably the Q950.

  • Does anyone know what are the specific tower speakers Caleb is showing in this video? Has he ever done a review on them?

    • Those speakers are Kef q750 or maybe q950...

  • Impressed with the Polyphia G.O.A.T clip in your AR-one section - awesome song! 👍 The tv looks ok too ;)

  • The sony wins hands down for overall picture quality. Last year thr Sony A8H was the best tv of 2021 in terms of picture quality and processing the CX only won thag title because it had hdmi 2.1 but this year sony has it too so in terma of image processing, overral picture quality, colors, great uniformity better than any other tv out there. I got the A8h and is a blast cant even imaging that kind of picture quality with a brigther panel with that same quality control that sony and panasonic only provide.

  • I hate messing with technology, can you give a recommendation for the best out of the box tv that doesn't need tweaking of settings, for mostly streaming TV and movie watching, and doesn't nees any add ons like a sound bar, and are there any tvs that you don't have to use the on board os like android yv Google tv roku ect.

  • I rather lg webos, google is literally an ad company, plus they can’t seem to commit to apps they design.

    • @Clint Dogwell not on CX and earlier. they have buttons on the remote that's it. zero on screen ads.

    • @Clint Dogwell really? I never noticed. I’ll look for it next time, if true that is disappointing

    • LG webOS has hugely disappointing insurance ads playing in the corner it’s horrible

  • Does LG still make their panels?

  • Does it come in 40'' size?

    • @MechanicalMan Thank you for letting me know so many T.V.'s are 50" & bigger now these days hard to find a good mid size one.

    • There are currently no OLED TVs under 48". LG Display said that there will be a 42" OLED TV on the market by the end of the year, but I highly doubt that you'll see one from Sony -- it will probably be a 42" LG C1.

  • Dream TV!

  • I want to get this for my PS5. It will look great but how will old games look that only have 1080p?

  • You gotta talk about Bravia Core quality
